A+X #5

Mar 8, 2013

Loki/Mister Sinister gets 2/5, because it was just incomplete. If this was a full-length issue, it would have scored much higher.

Aliens Vs. Parker #1

Mar 16, 2013

This kind of thing is exactly what would make me not buy this comic if I didn't know that it was by Paul Scheer. Hopefully people will literally not judge this book by its cover and give it the fair shot that it deserves.

Avengers (2012) #7

Mar 8, 2013

Unfortunately, it isn't. It's like watching the Pixar short before the feature film. It's beautiful, it's well done, but seemingly unconnected. The big difference here is that this is probably going to tie in to the story in some way, and you know the guy playing chess against himself isn't going to be in A Bug's Life (dated enough reference, readers?).

Avengers (2012) #11

May 10, 2013

So, the only complaint I have about the art is something entirely personal and pretty irrelevant. Pretty solid, right? I'm pretty sure if you like her hair, you won't have any issues with the art. But don't quote me on that.

Daredevil (2011) #23

Feb 21, 2013

Regardless of any flaws though, this issue could serve as a pivotal moment for the entire Daredevil mythos. If you like Daredevil at all, go get it. Shed a tear with the rest of us.

Daredevil (2011) #24

Mar 24, 2013

You should all keep on eye on Waid's Daredevil run. I think it will be remembered fondly in the character's history.

FF (2012) #7

May 20, 2013

This issue is a nice little wrap up, and if you're not reading FF now, you should add this book to your pull list right away. I hear there's going to be a pool party soon and you don't want to miss out on that. As long as Fraction and Allred run the Future Foundation, I want to be a member.

Five Weapons #1

Mar 1, 2013

This first issue is a little mediocre, but miniseries are always hard to get a great first issue. The important thing is that there is a good hook. Enough for me to check out the second issue, at least. I hope it focuses on the gun club, with the orthodox Jewish leader. That way I know it'll be better. At least it will be for me.

Hawkeye (2012) #9

Apr 12, 2013

I can only hope that when that day finally comes, I have a larger arsenal of cooking metaphors. Hopefully some that aren't so bland.

Jupiter's Legacy #1

Apr 26, 2013

I get the feeling that Jupiter's Legacy is the kind of book where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Each issue might not be the best thing on the shelves when it releases, but I'm sure the collection will find itself on a lot of best-of lists at the end of the year. Unless this book takes a turn for the Unfunnies side of Millar.

New Avengers (2013) #4

Mar 24, 2013

However, Hickman seems like he's got a handle on writing a long story in the single issue format, so I'm definitely looking forward to what is yet to come in his New Avengers run.

New Avengers (2013) #5

Apr 26, 2013

This is the chapter that's kind of boring, but you'll be confused if you skip it. You can't make the story without the narrative equivalent of vegetables. So chomp on the Brussells sprouts, dear readers. Hopefully we get some dessert next issue.

Polarity #1

Apr 5, 2013

I would have been perfectly fine with the slice-of-life story that was presented to me, but that isn't exactly where this book is going. It's definitely got more of a hook than that, and you should check it out.

Polarity #2

May 3, 2013

Oh, it took ten pages into the second issue for a Say Anything reference to come up. I was hoping it wouldn't happen, but it was pretty obtuse. I also may have been looking too hard.

Saga #12

Apr 12, 2013

Side note: I'm aware Comics: The Gathering is a Canadian site, but Canada already lays claim to about 90 percent of the bands I love and Wolverine. Let America (and me) have this one, guys.

Snapshot #3

Apr 5, 2013

No matter what the reason for it is, Snapshot just feels a bit disappointing to me. I'm already 3 issues in out of 4, so I will be reading the last one, but I'd recommend passing on this book.

Star Wars (2013) #3

Mar 15, 2013

It's incredibly nice to be back in the original trilogy, and I'm looking forward to reading this book until Marvel inevitably gets the comic rights to Star Wars and something new starts up. I don't think it will be as good, though.

Star Wars (2013) #5

However, someone had the great idea to give different colored accents on their helmets. It really goes a long way to keeping straight who is who while they're piloting against Imperial forces.

Superior Spider-Man (2013) #4

I never thought I would say this so soon, but just hurry up and bring Peter back. Your experiment is failing.

The Movement #1

May 3, 2013

I never thought I would be rooting for the rich kids, but I was more excited about The Movement's sister book, The Green Team, when this was announced. Now I don't see how Green Team can't be better.

Uncanny X-Force (2013) #2

Mar 1, 2013

This book is worth reading, but you might have a better experience to wait for the trade on this one. That way you don't have to wait a month to see another piece of the machine.

Wolverine and the X-Men #29

May 20, 2013

All in all, a solid issue and a reminder that this title belongs firmly in the grasp of any mutant lover. Also, I still have no idea what the hell the Bamfs really are, but apparently they age.
