    Shadowhawk's Shade - Abhinav Jain Jul 28, 2014

Rebekah Isaacs and Dan Jackson and Richard Starkings and Comicraft's Jimmy Betancourt are back for another turn this issue, along with cover artists Steve Morris who delivers another awesome piece of cover art, with the focus being on Spike fighting Maloker this time. As with the previous issues, I loved the artwork here. Maloker looks threatening and a badass in every panel he is in, and the action scenes are fluid and dynamic as always too. Couple that with the fact that Rebekah has a really good handle on the expressions-work and that Dan's colours are just way too good, and you've got a perfectness here. Read Full Review

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 10 #5 gave you a fight to stop Maloker, save Dracula, wrest Xander from Dracula's control, and much more. You wonder how so much can be packed into a single issue and not feel lost, yet this is something you can always expect from the Buffy books and have it transition so well. Read Full Review

The Fandom Post - Kory Cerjak Aug 19, 2014

Xander is kind of grating sometimes because his jokes are often the most frequent and often the most inappropriate. He's also a little self-centered"too much for his own good. But he shines in this arc that showcases his strongest parts: His love for his friends. His relationship with Dawn may be deteriorating (by no fault of his own), but they're all still around for when he comes back. And they'll always welcome him back. Read Full Review

This has been a very good opening to the new era and I am full onboard for the series as it continues. Admittedly this is only the first arc but if it carries on in this vein then the new team should make the new rules as compelling a read as any other Buffy series to date. Read Full Review

    All-Comic - Milo Milton Jefferies Jul 25, 2014

Season 10 is rapidly shaping up to be the best since Buffy made the transition to comic book format. Its fun, energetic and fresh and theres very little where this book goeswrong. Its safe to say that if youre a fan of the series then youll certainly get a kick out of this issue as Gage and Brendon have impressed a lot on writing duties so far, and itll be interesting to see how they handle the next arc. One things for sure, this is a creative team that can stay on the book as long as they keep delivering the high levels of writing and artwork that weve come to expect so far. Read Full Review

The fandom is lucky to experience the beginning of a new season that's growing into one of the most original and skillfully constructed eras of the series. I can't wait to see what's to come. Read Full Review

    Razorfine - Alan Rapp Aug 4, 2014

The main takeaway from the arc (featuring the co-writing duties of Buffy star Nicholas Brendon), other than getting to see Xander and Dracula back together again, is the importance of the Vampyr tome which now controls the mutable laws of magic and which Buffy can trust no one but herself and her friends to keep safe. Worth a look. Read Full Review
