Take one superstar writer who can carry every book he's on even if the art isn't so good, add a superstar artist who can carry a book without a strong writer, throw in a truly intriguging story about a hero faced with horror and a viewpoint-altering realization, and you've got yourself a truly great comic. Just think… These guys have done this consistently for over three years now. Read Full Review

Matt Fraction continues to bring the awesome in this series. I've got to say, I might not have liked what went down in Fear Itself #3, but Fear Itself, Invincible Iron Man and Mighty Thor, all of which are written by Fraction have been amongst the best comics I've been reading the past few months. Much like Avengers Academy, this comic did a great job of showing a) just how insanely powerful the Serpent's henchmen were, and b) just how awful their actions were. This issue also did a great job of showing us how damaging psychologically the events in Paris were on Tony Stark himself. Seeing Tony take that bottle with him, showed us, probably more than anything else, that he wasn't expecting to make it through Fear Itself. Again, this was a great comic, that has me eagerly anticipating the next issue. Read Full Review

It's great to see Invincible Iron Man back to the level of quality we've come to expect from this series. The last two months have had us worried that Fear Itself got to Fraction and he lost focus of what matters in this series -- character. Invincible Iron Man #505 proves that we're back on track, with a future that could be very toxic, if you catch my drift. Read Full Review

Pacing issues aside, this was really solid as far as tie-ins go, with a balanced model that I wish more writers would use when writing these sorts of issues. Read Full Review

Comic Vine - Matt Demers Jun 15, 2011

This is still a solid book by any means, but it seems to have toned down the shock and awe from last issue. While I'm not usually a fan of using death as shock, it was done tastefully to show that Iron Man might not be as powerful in the situation as he'd like. Resting on a pile of stone body parts was just very morose, and I think that's what Fear Itself needs: not necessarily "shock fear," but "emotional fear." Read Full Review
