    Newsarama - Edward Kaye Jul 5, 2012

Edison Rex is all-ages superhero comics done the way they are meant to be: fun and exciting. Read Full Review

The Weekly Crisis - Grant McLaughlin Jul 7, 2012

This issue is almost more of a thesis statement than anything, as it's clear that the coming issues will be somewhat different in how they are composed, but I think I'm hooked nonetheless. Roberson has a solid concept behind him, and with Culver providing the art, I'm hard pressed to resist this package. And once again, at 99 cents, you'll be hard pressed to find a better use of a dollar. Read Full Review

    Comicosity - Brett Monro Jul 6, 2012

Edison Rex is the type of book I expect Alan Moore to write, save that it isnt overly pretentious. The perfect blend of the old and the new, without being over-written, and too wink-wink as long as you have read comics for decades you will understand this. This series is great fun, and I love the concept of a criminal genius protecting the earth. Well worth the look, especially for a mere 99 cents. Read Full Review

Graphic Policy - Brett Schenker Jun 20, 2013

Edison Rex is a perfect example of a comic that both celebrates and sends-up the superhero genre and the genre's long history. Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - Greg McElhatton Jul 5, 2012

"Edison Rex" #1 is a great debut; I'm already ready to read the next issue, and if the series stays as strong as this opening is, I can see a series of "Edison Rex" collections gracing my bookshelf before very long. Monkeybrain Comics caught everyone's attention with its announcement, and now that the first wave of titles are out, I think they'll be catching even more attention with the actual product being so good. Definitely check it out. Read Full Review

Comics Bulletin - David Fairbanks Jul 4, 2012

Edison Rex was a bit of a roller coaster for me, but it ended on the high point of a hopefully comedic adventure comic that has me curious about where it's headed. And the price point is at the magical $1 that I can justify for digital content, so they'll probably have a hold of me for at least the first story arc. Read Full Review

Comic Bastards - Dustin Cabeal Jul 8, 2012

It's not the most original storyline, but the actual quality of the series is very impressive and some of the writer’s best work to date. This is another launch title from MonkeyBrain and is definitely worth the .99 cents you’ll have to put down to get it. If you’re more of a print person then you’ll have to wait longer for the book, but its still worth it. All in all I have to say that this is another impressive outing for the publisher. Major Spoilers - Zach Woolf Jul 4, 2012

My recommendation to read the issue more than once isn't necessarily because it is an out-of-this-world inaugural issue, but because after every reread I have appreciated the ending more. The entire lead up always had me engaged and attached to the characters, and the fact the issue accomplished that in under 16 pages is a feat in itself. While I'm only giving this issue a 3 out of 5, I'm looking forward to strong outings in the future. I say go download Edison Rex #1 now, and with a price of only $0.99, what's the risk?
